Narrating the Drizzly Soul
‘Call me Ishmael.’
The first line of Moby Dick is striking.
Ishmael is the narrator and he tells the story of captain Ahab’s drizzly soul.
‘Drizzly.’
I can’t think of a better term to describe the condition of the human soul at the moment. Is it me, or does the cultural mood seem to feel like November?
Like Ishmael, we narrate life in the nihilistic drizzle.
