Logos asked me to write an article for Word by Word in hopes that I might be able to help prospective PhD candidates decide whether or not they should take the plunge.

I share my ultimate advice with hopes to talk students into it, or out of it. I give my best reasons for doing one, and my best reasons for letting the idea go.
